Oak Framing and Carving

 

Looking for a professional oak framing/carving service? Ray West Builders are available 7 days a week for a chat about any work you require, or even just for a bit of advice on your end!

We both make and erect oak framed:

  • Sun Rooms and Garden Rooms – Often a standalone room used as an office or a sitting area, with plenty of space for whatever you may use it for, however we can also attach the sun room to the house either as an extra room or even an extension to your kitchen or dining room!
  • Porches and Conservatories –Oak conservatories operate slightly differently than orangeries or sun rooms, and require being separated from the main house as well as having their own heating system. However, these are still widely popular as a family space and can add value to your property overall.
  • Orangeries – Our oak framed orangeries can be either a standalone building or we can attach it to the house through an open plan format.

Our buildings are all erected using 18 month felled green oak, whether you would like to go for European or English. If you would prefer, we can also use our 3-5 year felled oak which is more seasoned and has already shrunk and cracked for the instant rustic look which is the overall desire for any oak framed building.

All of our oak work is traditionally pegged and jointed to ensure maximum satisfaction and efficiency. Our oak work can be:

  • Left as it is
  • Burnished to raise grain
  • Grit blasted to clean
  • Oiled or waxed

We operate in:

  • And all areas within a 15 mile radius of Wells-next-the-Sea

All methods have different advantages and disadvantages to create a different finish.

Oak work is made by myself personally offsite and then erected when ready to ensure minimum disturbance and inconvenience.

We are also experts in repairing decayed oak work, splicing in new, using modern paints, modern sealants, etc.
